While mommy's away...

Riley and Daddy will lounge all day!

I went away for a few days this past weekend and Riley was left with her daddy to be watched. They had fun and did things like go to the zoo and play in the pool. She also got to have a sleepover at Babcha and Pop's house!

I had a great weekend partying it up with Bon Jovi, the Yankees and my family, but missed my two loves more than they could ever know. No more long vacations for mommy, unless they're tagging along!

What I am lovin' (these days at least)

Since it has been so long since I have done my own blog, I thought now would be a good time to update everyone on what I have been doing lately. To date, I am 21-months-old going on 4-years-old and I have already begun to show mommy and daddy that I am thisclose to the "terrible two's." Although I do give mommy and daddy a run for their money in the tantrum department, I also like to do things outside of freak out over the word "no." Here are some of the things I am in to (for now):

Getting my toes painted

Hiding in mommy's hamper when it's empty (of course this is rare)

Climbing on things that are not meant to be climbed on (like my music table, the coffee table and the dining room table)

I still love blowing bubbles, especially now that I actually learned how to blow bubbles!

Hangin' (literally) at the park

Smelling flowers (especially when I have to climb on the dining room table to get to them)!!

Putting money in my piggy bank

Brushing my teeth by myself in the mirror.

And of course - I still LOVE being a cutie pie!

It's the Climb

Oh the joys of raising a toddler - this week climbing on the table!

We figured we have one of two options
1. No more flowers for the table
2. Lock Riley away in her room

I am guessing it would be more socially acceptable to just not buy anymore flowers!!!

Daddy's Genes

It appears to me that Riley may not only look like daddy, but she has his sense of style as well. Riley received two new pairs of sandals (a pair of white and a pair of pink) from her Juh-Juh. When we decided to go outside and play ball, I began to put the white pair on considering she was wearing a blue and white outfit. Well Riley decided that she liked the pink ones better and DEMANDED to wear them. Not looking to have a temper tantrum on my hands, I allowed it. No worries, she looked adorable anyway!!!

Mother's Day

Wow - another Mother's Day has passed. I think you officially are a pro once you've passed your 1st Mother's Day! This past year as a mommy was even better than my first. It is amazing to me that the little peanut I held in my arms for the first time on August 23rd, 2008 is the same thriving little girl that I can barely hold in my arms today!

Riley is a true blessing! She has been the light in our lives for the past 20 1/2 months. She is brilliant, funny and genuinely cares about people. She is the reason I wake up every day. And while Riley has daddy's looks, she takes after her mommy in many ways! I am more than proud to have Riley Paige as a daughter - she is after all the reason I breathe.

What I have learned the most from Riley is this quote:

"While we try to teach our children about life, our children teach us what life is all about"

- Angela Schwindt

This more than rings true for me. I look forward to seeing what Riley has to teach me about life in the next year.

Happy Mother's Day to all - hope everyone enjoyed their day!

"I'm Gonna Get Me Some Glasses"

It's no secret that Riley may be a tad bit obsessed with Justin Roberts. If you are a parent and are reading this look him up - he has some pretty catchy tunes and your kid(s), I guarantee will absolutely love him!! Riley's latest Justin Roberts obsession is "Get Me Some Glasses" a song about a kid who has to get glasses because he is having trouble seeing. Riley often makes me sing it when she is on the potty. Anyway, I didn't want to be selfish and not share some of this catchy tune (plus since I wear glasses, it's not too hard to believe that there may be some time in Riley's life that she will have to don a pair of glasses - that is unless she also inherits daddy's perfect 20/20 vision).

I Chalk

Outside our house the neighbors just gawk (or maybe not)
Why can't they see there's a museum on our block
All the grown ups they just stand around and talk
I chalk, I ch-ch-chalk

-Justin Roberts "I Chalk"

Today while at Babcha and Pop's house we decided to decorate their driveway with some sidewalk chalk. Everyone joined in:

Babcha drew a picture of the Clark Family - Daddy, Mommy and Riley

Pop drew a scary looking man

I drew a rainbow

Riley took part in lots of drawings as evidence by the following pictures

But not to be outdone by anyone

"Then dad grabbed chalk, and got on one knee (then suddenly)..."

He drew the WHOLE world!!!

Guess I didn' t realize this was a contest!!! Next time I am bringing out the big guns and drawing the whole solar system...take that OVER ACHIEVER!!!

Fashion Police are on the prowl...

Why is Riley crying? Well it could be because daddy dressed her in clothes that were way too small for her to be wearing! The deal is that mommy and daddy split up the week with who drops off Riley at daycare. Usually when it is daddy days, mommy picks out the clothes so that Riley doesn't go to school in mismatched clothes (which has happened a few times). Well bad mommy forgot to leave out clothes. To Jeremy's credit I will say he matched Riley's shirt with the jeans they go with. Unfortunately for Riley daddy did not read the tags.

Notice the rolled up sleeves. They are rolled up because the sleeves are so short you may as well roll them up. The way she is standing in this photo does not give justice to how short her shirt actually was - I bet Everitt is liking her a little more now!!! My favorite are the whites of the pockets showing...classic! The amount of diaper hanging out of the pants, yikes! Such a lady!!

I know, I could totally blame myself for this, shame on me for not cleaning out her drawers of the clothes that don't fit anymore. But really, I do wonder how in the world Jeremy gets himself dressed daily!!!

Note to self: CLEAN OUT RILEY'S CLOSET AND DRAWERS!!
