Quick update on the squash

We sent Riley to daycare yesterday with a jar of butternut squash. I explained to her teacher that she may not eat too much because she wasn't crazy about it on Sunday. Well to our surprise, when Riley came home, her paper read that she ate the whole jar! Jeremy and I weren't sure if that was correct. Sure enough, when I went to drop Riley off today I was told that yes she did eat the whole jar!!! Next stop sweet potatoes!!

Butternut squash - not so yummy in the tummy

After a quick visit to the pediatrician on Thursday we got the thumbs up to start Riley on foods other than cereal. Most know the deal, start with the orange/yellow veggies and move to the greens and then introduce fruit. So it was off to Wegmans to get some Butternut Squash and Sweet Potatoes. We started today with the Butternut Squash and will continue to try it for the next few days. Here was how the feeding went...

A few bites into the squash, Riley realized that maybe she doesn't really like this veggie, but true to Clark tradition, kept eating it anyway. True to Connors tradition she made faces the whole time!

So she gave up eating and went right for the bottle! Take two tomorrow!!

5 months - almost half way to one

Well, I must say month 4 was filled will lots of good firsts and fun times. First big event that happened this past month was Christmas. I got so many toys and clothes, I'm not sure what to do with all of them!! Mommy says a girl can never have too many clothes, so I am happy that I pretty much wear a new outfit everyday. I love all my new toys from Christmas and was thrilled to spend time with all my family.

This month has proven to be a very cold month, of course mommy says it is only January so I should expect the weather to be like this for a good while. Syracuse has gotten over 100 inches of snow - that's a lot. Mommy and I check out the window every morning and mommy does a happy dance when the sun is out - it's kinda funny! It's a good thing I got lots of warm things to wear to protect me from the cold and snow.

So last month I told you about my new found love for my feet. Well I have moved a step up and now I often put them in my mouth. Daddy thinks it's funny and mommy thinks it's gross. Oh well, either way, I like it!

I got to help mommy decorate for Valentine's Day - except I wasn't much help when I tried to put everything in my mouth!

This past month has been awesome. I saw my first New Year's and we now have an awesome new President. I know there is still lots to come during the next month. I am getting visitors (all my aunts, uncles and juh juh and gramps), Valentine's Day and my christening. Stay tuned for more updates, but for now I leave you a picture of me, officially 5 months old - whoo hoo!!!

Riley's Room

Well it only took us almost 3 months since we moved, but we FINALLY got Riley's room done! We are still waiting for one more wall hanging, but here it is her room 99% completed. We hope you enjoy it as much as Riley does.

Our little jumping bean

Riley has been enjoying all of her fun toys from Christmas these past two weeks. There is one toy she seems to love. Daddy bought Riley a Jumperoo and we must say, we're impressed at how well Riley does in it. Check it out for yourself:

I know she looks quite serious in this video, but she usually squeals and laughs as she jumps around. Again, we think it's having the camera out!! We can't help but to love our little jumping bean.

My first CPK

For Christmas this year I got my first Cabbage Patch Kid. Mommy said she used to get one of these dolls every year when she was a little girl. Aunt Laurie and Uncle Schneckie thought it would be a great idea for all of the girls to get a doll this year. They found one that looked a lot like me, except my doll has brown eyes not blue.

At first I was a little unsure of this doll that is almost as tall as me and looks an awful lot like me (including the fine toupee of hair on her head).

But then I realized, she's not really real! So I love her. Oh by the way her name is Doreen Jeanne and she was born on December 3rd. Finally, I'm not the youngest in the family!!! Thank you Aunt Laurie and Uncle Schneckie for Doreen, I'll love her forever!

-- Happy 2009 --

What a year! We can't believe it's 2009 already. Although we are so thankful for all the wonderful things 2008 brought us, we cannot wait to see what this year brings. The Clark family just wanted to wish everyone a happy and healthy new year.
