Time for your check-up!

Today was Avery's 9 month appointment.  We haven't been to see Dr. Rufa in about 3 months, so it was exciting to learn about how Avery is progressing.  I mean, obviously we think she's smart, on track and just an overall great kid, but is she where she is supposed to be??

The results...of course she is!!!  Avery can do everything that a 9 month old should be doing, and even doing some things that 1-year-olds should be doing!  Dr. Rufa told us that she loved that Avery was so mobile and on the verge of walking.  She likes that she can wave hi and bye (and say it occasionally as well).  Avery recently said her first sentence which was "hi, dada."

She is eating pretty well and sleeping only ok.  But have you seen this kid's smile...you can't get mad at her for lack of sleep!!!

Avery did receive one shot today.  It was given in her arm since she likes to use her legs to stand a lot.  She took the shot like a champ - one loud scream and about a 20 second cry was all.  We head back in October (the 29th to be exact) for her 1 year appointment (did I really just say 1 year???).

Avery before her appointment

Avery's stats:

28.75 inches in height (84th percentile)
21lbs. 4oz. (85th percentile)
17.75 inches for head circumference (78th percentile)

Riley came to Avery's appointment with us and gave lots of information to the doctor about her little sister!!

Let's do this again!

Remember this blog entry??  It was almost 2 full years ago that Riley got her ears pierced per her request. For those of you that don't know, Riley got her ears pierced and had them pierced for about 3 months.  I will never know exactly what happened, but one night I noticed a little bit of blood coming from her ear (underneath the earring), and Riley then said she banged her head.  I had to remove the earring in order to clean it.  Riley REFUSED to let us put the earring back in and then equally as much, she refused to let us take the other one out.

Riley rocked one earring for a long time.  Eventually it came out, but several months went by, I mean several. The other day, Riley shared that she would like to get her ears pierced again.  So Juh-Juh and I put her in the car and went off to the mall.  Of course when we got there she wanted nothing to do with getting her ear pierced.  So we did a little back to school shopping.  Afterwards we went back to Claire's and she went ahead with getting them pierced.

This time I think she was a little more afraid since she knew what was going to happen.  She did pick different earrings.  They were pink glitter love hearts!  Riley cried, but now loves her earrings and is happy to have her ears pierced again.  I hope we don't have to ever do this again (with Riley at least)!!

9 months!!

Holy cow, 9 months!!  Where did the time go?!!?  Avery is exactly 39 weeks old today, which means she has been out in the real world for as long as she was in my belly.  I wish time went that fast when she was in there!  Ha!

This past month has been full of sleepless nights!  It's tooth time!  Avery has 2 teeth now (bottom front) and if she is anything like her sister, those two top ones should be coming in sooner rather than later.  Avery is a crawling machine!  She also has been spending more and more time standing up on her own, but WILL NOT walk.  If you try to get her to, she immediately drops to the floor and starts crawling.

She has definitely mastered hello and goodbye.  She says "hi" and "bye" as well and I am telling you she can string together "hi mama" and "hi dada."  Avery, unlike Riley, is a one trick pony.  If she says something, she will only do it once and will not repeat herself if you ask her to.  She has said "birdie", "doggy", I am told she has said "Otto" (Babcha's dog) and today she said "Avery."  It was so clear and I tried to get her to say it again, but she wouldn't!!

Avery goes back to the doctor next Wednesday for her 9  month appointment.  I cannot wait to see her stats!  We're looking forward to watching what happens with Avery over the next month.  Will she be walking or will she be talking more??  Only time will tell, but we can't wait!

Here are some 9 month pictures - which are getting harder and harder to take because she is such a squirmy worm!

A Sick Weekend to the OC

This past weekend myself and the little ladies packed it up and headed to the OC.  We went with a purpose of course!  It was to celebrate Keira's 6th birthday and to get in some good quality family time as well.  The drive down was horrific.  Avery screamed for about 2 out of the 3 hour trip.  Three stops and more than 3 hours later, we made it to Juh-Juh and Grandpa's house!

Saturday morning Riley and I got up bright and early to head to Jersey for Keira's movie birthday party.  On the big screen, Despicable Me 2.  It was a cute movie and I think the kids all had a great time.

Afterwards, Jenn and Keira came back to the OC and we had some time to hang out and let the girls have their cousin time.  This included pool time, play time and pizza time!!

The time spent with the family was great.  What was not so great was how everyone (except Riley) got sick.  It started with Avery on Saturday and passed to the following people - Jeremy, me, Jenn, mom, dad, and even Babcha!!!  It seems that we are all on the mend, so let's hope that it stays that way!

Happy 6th Birthday, Keira!!!

Pool time!!!

Enjoy a video of Keira and Riley's pool dancing and Avery enjoying the mist spray on the hose.

Matching jammies from TCP! (thanks Juh-Juh)

Despite illness and a rough car ride, it was a great time to be with the family...as usual!!!  Can't wait to do it all again (minus any bugs).
