Sick again?!

Riley has been having this nagging cough for a few days. Today she sounded very congested, so daddy took her to see the doctor. Good thing he did, because we found out Riley has an upper respiratory infection and bronchitis. Riley now needs to have nebulizer treatments for the seven days and she has to have them every 4 hours. Believe me when I tell you, she isn't the biggest fan of the treatments.

I think here she is begging me with her sad eyes to get this thing off her!!

Someone has clearly had enough

But what makes any kid feel better when they're sick...BUBBLES of course. Riley and daddy went outside to blow bubbles and it was nice to see Riley smile and laugh again!

Please don't mind the hair - it's been a rough day!

Eight is Great

Riley is 8 months old today! She is getting too big - sometimes we wonder how in the world this is the same baby. This past month has been exciting - so many things have happened. Riley celebrated her first Easter and she had her first trip to the zoo. Riley also got her second tooth this month. Riley is "speaking" more, she says a few words including dada, baba, uh-oh and quack quack. No mama yet, but I will continue to wait patiently for her to say it. She also gives high fives (but only to mommy, daddy is jealous). We can't express enough how much we love being parents to this inquistive little girl. Everyday we learn something new about her and the world through an 8 month old's eyes. It's the greatest feeling in the world.

Would someone please tell this little girl to stop growing?!

Riley has been practicing her crawling, which consists of her either turning in a circle or scooting backwards! Hey, she's learning! She also has been working on standing and doing a really good job. We are also working on getting Riley to wave - I think she may have it down soon enough. Soon Riley will be able to enjoy daddy AND mommy at night, as I have a new work schedule that will allow me to be home every night to take part in dinner and bath time (and listening to the theme song to Go Diego Go!, as she is doing in this picture).

A day at the zoo

Today mommy and daddy took me on a trip. We got into the car and within minutes we were at the zoo!! I've never been to the zoo, but mommy and daddy talked about it all week long saying that there were lots of animals there and lots of kids go with their mommy's and daddy's to visit the animals. When I got there I saw that they weren't kidding! There were tons of animals there.

First we went through and saw all the fish, frogs, snakes and lizards we could. They're kinda yucky. But then we saw crocodiles and the biggest turtles I've ever seen. Those turtles were so big, I could have surfed on one of them - seriously!!!

Here are some pictures of my favorite animals that I saw:

The peacock was ginormous - but very pretty.

Then there was the sleeping lion. I thought it was funny that it was sleeping with it's tongue sticking out of it's mouth. I wonder if I sleep like that?
One of my very favorites was the penguins. They would dive into the water and swim right up to the glass. They swim funny and very fast. I enjoyed watching them zoom by. And then daddy and I became penguins - pretty cool huh?? Mommy and daddy knew I loved the penguins so much before we left they made a pit stop at the gift shop and bought me a big pink penguin!

The elephants were awesome. They fed each other and threw dirt on themselves. They're pretty funny animals.

We got to see so much today, monkeys, birds, a fox, meerkats and a fossa to name a few. I can't wait to go back again. Mommy says maybe we could go to a bigger zoo the next time around. Well, either way I can't wait!!

Riley's first word

Well it's official - Riley said her first word today and it was..."da-da." Of course daddy is in all his glory. And this wasn't just Riley babbling and saying different sounds, this was her looking right at daddy and saying "da-da." We are very proud (and for mommy, maybe a little jealous). We still cannot believe this is the same baby some crazy doctor let us take home almost 8 months ago. We can't wait to see what comes out of her mouth next - fingers crossed it's mama!!

Hippity, Hoppity - Easter's here!!

It's Easter! My weekend started off better then last weekend (don't think I forgot about my encounter with the Easter bunny). Instead, this weekend I went to the blessing of the food at church and then I got to color eggs. Mommy let me plop my own egg in the dye. I think daddy and Uncle Matt were more excited about coloring eggs than I was.

After coloring eggs, mommy sent me to bed. When I woke up this morning I saw a great big basket with my name on it (literally). I was excited - it was like Christmas all over again!!

Mommy let me tear right into the basket. I got new pjs, a toy, a new sippy cup, and some snacks to name a few.

Mommy and daddy got me dressed into my pretty Easter dress. I even let them put a bow in my hair.

We went to Babcha and Pop's house for a yummy breakfast (or so I heard, I only got cereal and fruit). I had a great time visiting and playing with my toys there. And people must love me because I got more baskets filled with prizes. So not to brag, but including the two baskets I got from Juh-Juh and Gramps and then Aunt Jenny, Uncle Darrell and Keira, and the Easter goody bag from Aunt Laurie and Uncle Adam, I managed to collect, 7 baskets!! Wow I feel loved.

I can't say anything else except I had a fabulous first Easter. It was nice to see some of our family again. Can't wait for the next gathering. Happy Easter from the Clark Family to yours!!

You can't fool me!

Every night that the Clark family is able to eat dinner together it goes a little something like this - mommy and daddy eat dinner and Riley enjoys puffs. At first, it was very hard for Riley to coordinate her thumb and index finger in order to pick up the puffs. Most would land in her highchair or on the dining room floor. Today we noticed that Riley has gotten so much better eating her puffs that we thought we could trick her. Too bad she showed us!

Here comes Peter Cottontail

Today we took Riley over to the mall to have her picture taken with the Easter Bunny. When we first sat her on his lap, she wanted nothing to do with him. Thankfully we did a take two a few minutes later and we were able to at least get a picture with no tears! Next year may be a different story - but at least we had this year!

Watch me...go??

Ok, so while she's not crawling just yet, we can't help but to love watching her give it a good try!!
