Memorial Day Weekend 2011

Wow, what a weekend I had!! It was a nice extended weekend where I got to spend 4 days home with mommy and daddy. We kicked off Memorial Day weekend celebrating mommy's "20th" birthday. Mommy says she is really not 20, but that it's ok if I think that. It was a great day as you read in my previous blog post we went to the movies and saw "Rio." But then we celebrated mommy's birthday with pizza and cake. Of course, I just HAD to help blow out the candles.

Saturday was what mommy called a "weird, tricky day." We didn't know if it was going to rain or not, so we spent the day taking care of other things like shopping for my new baby cousin (2nd cousin) that is due in a month. Mommy let me pick out my own special gift that she will deliver for me next week when she goes to Baby Parrott's baby shower.

Since it never did rain, we ended up going to Babcha and Pop's house to play. We went to the castle playground and mommy and I rolled down a GIANT hill. SO.MUCH.FUN!!!!

On Sunday we were finally able to make it to the pool. As excited as I was about going to the pool, once we were there I was not so excited. I must have forgotten about how big the pool really is. I had fun and did swim around a little, but mommy and daddy were NOT allowed to let go of me!!

After spending the morning at the pool, we headed to the zoo. It was super hot out, but it was fun to visit with all the animals. Plus I took my own camera and needed to get pictures of the penguins!

After the zoo mommy went to the mall to get a pedicure and I went with her and daddy to play in the arcade. Mommy didn't want me to feel left out and so she gave me a mani/pedi after my bath. I requested purple nail polish - just like she had on her toes!

On Monday it was back to Babcha and Pop's house to celebrate Memorial Day. The day was all about food, fun and sun. I had a great time playing with my cousin Alex.

I had so much fun this weekend I don't want it to end! Mommy says it's back to reality tomorrow. I cannot wait to tell my friends at school about what a super awesome weekend I had!!

RIO!

It's Memorial Day weekend (and mommy's birthday) but since the weather has been uncooperative and rainy lately, mommy decided that it was time to take me to my very first movie.

It was off to Carousel Mall to see the movie Rio. It was not just my first movie - it was my first 3D movie! I loved it and requested to go back to the movies tomorrow. Mommy says not tomorrow, but soon.

A large screen, comfy seats, sweet 3D glasses, popcorn and pink lemonade...what's not to love?? Can't wait to go back!

Cause They're Cousins

Growing up as a kid I could barely stand my big sister (sorry Jenn - but I'm sure the feeling was mutual). As we got older our days of torturing each other became less and less and our days of hanging out with each other became more and more. Jenn and I began dating our husbands within weeks of each other, we got engaged within weeks of each other, and we both stood up for each other in our weddings. Jeremy and I are also proud to be Keira's godmother.

Who knew that we would have kids that were 13 1/2 months apart and that our children would be so close despite the 250 miles between them. There have been hundreds of times that we have gotten together for various holidays, birthdays, special occasions and just because that I have been able to witness the special bond between these little ladies.

These girls are each other's life coaches. When Riley was potty training Keira was there to help us get her to go poop on the potty. When Keira was having trouble drinking her milk after it was discovered that she may not be allergic, Riley was there to cheer her on. I cannot wait for the many more life events that will bring these ladies together so that they can cheer each other on. Keira is the best big cousin to Riley that we could have ever asked for.

After each visit with Keira and Jenn we are always counting down until the next time we will see them again (4 1/2 weeks now)!!

Keira is like a daughter to me and like a sister to Riley. I do hope that the two of them will stay this close for the rest of their lives. I hope even more that one day Keira and Riley will have children like themselves and get the chance to see how wonderful it is to watch two smart, loving, funny girls grow up right before their eyes!!

Here are some pictures of Keira and Riley over the past 2 1/2 years (ah the memories already):

I believe this was the very first time Keira met Riley.

Spending quality nap time together

This was our very first Girl's Weekend - with others that followed and many more to come!

This is the most precious picture from our very first family vacation to OBX - the girls had such a great time spending a whole week together!

Nothing but pure cuteness!!!

Just this past weekend at Sesame Place - Keira showed Riley the ropes!!

Now - how in the world could Jenn and I be so lucky?? We're not really sure, but we're not complaining either!

I love this quote because it is so true:

"God made us cousins, because he knew our moms couldn't handle us as sisters."

Sunny Days, Sweeping the Clouds Away...

If only it really was a sunny day!! But no sun didn't even matter! Yesterday Riley took her very first trip to Sesame Place. And while the sun was no where to be seen it did not stop us from having the time of our lives.

Back in - oh I don't know January or February we discovered that Justin Roberts was playing at Sesame Place. Jenn and I could NOT pass up the opportunity for our girls to attend a concert together. So reservations were made, tickets were purchased, weeks were counted and finally it was off to Sesame Place we went.

Justin Robert's concert was nothing short of AWESOME. He also was kind enough to follow through on a request I made on his facebook page asking him to play Riley's most favorite song ever "Doctor, Doctor." We enjoyed his first show so much that we went to a second performance!

Riley rode her first roller coaster and enjoyed several other of the amusement park rides. She also eagerly took pictures with the different characters. I credit Keira for Riley taking pics with the characters because Riley generally hates anything in costume!!

Riley and Keira participated in the Sesame Place parade too!! It was such an incredibly fun day despite the clouds and eventual rain. I had such a great time spending the day with my daughter, sister and niece! I cannot wait to do it again!!!

I took TONS of pictures so if you would like to see more pictures go to this website:
