Syracuse, here we come!!

This weekend Riley went on her first out-of-town trip since being airlifted to Westchester. The Clark family took a weekend trip to Syracuse to visit with Babcha, Pop and Uncle Matty. Riley got the chance to meet other family members too, including her great-grandparents. Riley received lots of love from the extended family, but not as much as she got from her grandparents. Babcha and Pop spent the weekend arguing (in good fun of course) over who got to hold Riley the longer. Riley didn't care who did, because she loves them both equally!!

Here are some pics from this weekend:

Spending quality time with her godfather, Uncle Matty

Taking a nice nap on Babcha's shoulder

Spending time with Pop.

Even Otto wanted in on the action of getting to know Riley.

Overall, it was a successful weekend! Riley slept pretty much the whole way home. She was clearly exhausted from all the love she got. And in two weeks we will do it all over again...except this time we'll let Babcha and Pop babysit for a few hours, all on their own - we're sure they'll do just fine!

Dear Keira

Dear Keira,

Today I woke up from my mid-morning nap and mommy told me it was time to get dressed. Now I know that when we are not going out on the town, it usually means I am going to put on one of my super cute onesies and hang around the house. Today was different. Today mommy not only put a super cute onesie on me, she added what she called a hat. She told me that my big cousin Keira got this for me before I was even born. So I figured, since you have written me blogs in the past, it was my turn to learn from the master. I wanted you to see how adorable I looked in my hat and onesie. I like it...I hope that you pick out all of my gifts (I'll send you my Christmas list in November).

So, what do you think??

Can't wait to spend time with you next weekend for apple picking - yummy!

Love Always your baby cousin,

Riley

PS - How was this for my first blog????

Rubber Ducky, You're the One!

A certain someone finally lost her belly button this week. This called for a celebration. Our little stinker, got to take a bath at last!!

She didn't enjoy it at first, but the screams only lasted 20 seconds before she realized taking a bath is not a terrible thing.

Ah, so fresh and so clean! I hope Riley continues to enjoy bath time because it's never fun to be the smelly kid!!

Sleep, Glorious, Sleep!

Riley loves her some beauty sleep. We're thinking all this sleep is why she's so darn cute! She pretty much will sleep anywhere at anytime during the day. Here are some examples of what I'm talking about:

Sleeping in the arms of her aunt
Sleeping in the arms of her uncle

Sleeping in her swing

Sleeping in her car seat

And finally, sleeping in her own bed!

We are just so lucky to have this little sleepy head in our lives!

One Week, One Week!

Today Riley turned one week old. While it may be silly to celebrate one week of life, mommy and daddy didn't think so due to all that Riley dealt with her first few days.

Riley was discharged from Westchester Medical on Monday 8/25/08. Here she is patiently waiting for her discharge summary from the doctor.

She handled the car ride home from the hospital better than mommy and daddy who were like nervous nellies driving through the traffic. Riley didn't seem to mind and she slept the entire way home.

She endured her first "washdown" like a champ.

She has been sleeping very well and wakes up pretty much on cue (every 2 1/2 - 3 hours) to eat and get a diaper change. One night she decided to make a diaper change an opportunity to be cute. Here was the end result of that!

Overall, Riley seems to have adjusted to home life. She went on her first doctor's visit yesterday and he was pleased with her progress. Riley is enjoying her quality time with both mommy and daddy. Mommy and daddy are totally in love and while they enjoy the times she's sleeping, they are always looking forward to when she will wake up again and hang out with them.

Stay tuned for more on Riley!!

Welcome to the World Riley Paige!

Well, well, well...Riley Paige Clark decided to slowly make her way into the world exactly one week overdue. However, she couldn't just be late - she had to come into the world with a bang!

Riley was born via C-Section on 08/21/08 at 8:38am. She weighed in at a hefty 8lbs. 10oz. and was 19 in. long.

Riley was born with meconium in her lungs. She had ingested quite a bit of it, causing her some problems with breathing. Riley was sent to Westchester Medical Center by helicopter (along with daddy) at 4 hours old.

Here's what she looked like getting ready to leave Horton and get on the helicopter.

Pretty scary for a first time mommy and daddy.

What we learned about little Miss Riley was that she was a fighter. She was put on a jet ventilator to help her breathe. By the next day, Riley was already taken off the ventilator, but given some oxygen to help her.

And, by day 2 daddy got to hold his little princess for the first time.

By day 3, mommy was released from the hospital and was able to come and visit. By then Riley was only on antibiotics, but was eating and breathing all on her own.

On August 25th, at a mere 4 days old, Riley got to go home with mommy and daddy. We can't believe she is all ours! So far she has proven to be a great baby. She sleeps, eats and poops well! Mommy and daddy are feeling more than blessed to have this little peanut in our lives.

Keep coming back to visit for more cute pictures and updates.

Where is Riley Paige???

Does anyone know what day it is??

Oh, that's right!!! It's August 14th. Today is the day Riley was supposed to come...except she didn't!

But according to the countdown clock...

time's up!!!!

Even my myspace countdown clock said 0 days!

So, Riley didn't show up on her due date...I did hear a rumor that only 5% of babies are actually born on their due date (I don't really know how true that is). Hopefully she will arrive soon though because there are a bunch of people out here waiting to meet her. Until then I leave you with what I hope to be the last belly pic of Riley.

Please come soon...mommy and daddy want nothing more in this world than to hold you, cuddle you and spoil you!!!
