I like to move it, move it!

Back in 2009 on my birthday, Riley decided to learn how to crawl.  She was 9 months old.  We thought she was a late bloomer.

We joked last week that maybe Avery would learn how to crawl on my birthday since she has been trying so hard getting into the crawling position and rocking, but never actually going anywhere.  

So, Avery decided she wasn't going to crawl on my birthday...but she did decide she would just wait one day.  Today, May 28th Avery at 7 months old started crawling.  We're so proud of her!!!  Go baby go!!!!

Now we wonder how long it will be before she starts walking...AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Look who's 7 months old!!

Another month has come and gone!  Avery is getting so big!!  Today she is 7 months old (a mere 5 months from her 1st birthday ::sigh::).  Avery is growing and doing so well.  Over the past month, Avery has learned to say "mama" and "dada" - but mostly mama!!  She is trying soooo hard to keep up with Riley, she wants to crawl walk so badly.  She gets on all fours, but doesn't have the whole move your arms with your legs.  Don't get me wrong, home girl knows how to get where she needs to go, but it is all by scooting or rolling.  She wants to stand - ALL.THE.TIME.  It is so hard trying to get things done because she just wants someone to hold her up.  

Avery has no teeth to date (Riley sprouted one tooth by the time she was 7 months) - so maybe it's coming soon.  She has been trying different foods - I am almost certain she hates peas.  It really has been the only food that past one spoonful she won't take.  This week we started on carrots, she seems to think they're ok. She loves puffs now, and likes to chomp on Mum Mums while we eat dinner.

Riley is such a good big sister to Avery.  And Avery, as always, adores Riley.  We're pretty lucky!

MAMA!!!!


That's right folks, mama!!!  Avery's first official word is "mama" and this mama couldn't be happier!!

Avery has been working hard at making words and does say "dada" "mama" and "baba" a lot, but those are usually just while she is babbling.  She has never directed her words towards anyone.  Well at least not until May 17th when she decided to directly say "mama" to me.  And let's just say it hasn't stopped!  Avery is a mama's girl through and through...and well, I'll take it!!!!

Mother's Day ~ 2013

We were so lucky to host Mother's Day here!  Everyone came over for some good food, drinks and company.  I am so incredibly lucky for 2 reasons:

The first reason is because of these two beautiful and adorable little ladies!

Riley Paige and Avery Parker - I am loving every minute of being your mother.  Times aren't always easy, but I don't think I could have asked for better daughters  than the two of you.  I love you both "a big, giant much!!"

The second reason are these fine ladies here:

My sisters, my goddaughter, my mother and mother-in-law, are just wonderful women who are roles models in their own ways.  I know I can count on all of them at any time.  Riley, Avery and I are so blessed to have all of these beautiful women in our lives.

I hope everyone had an awesome Mother's Day - I know I definitely did!!!

It was a great week for Riley!!

Last week was super busy for many different reasons - but one of those reasons was Riley.  On Thursday she had her very first official t-ball game and on Saturday she had her dance recital.

Riley played well on Thursday.  The coach rotated their positions, but Riley did well wherever she was placed.  Each team went up to bat three times.  Riley hit the ball all three times!  Such a great job!!!

Riley's dance recital on Saturday was months of hard work in the making.  She and her class have been practicing the Clubhouse Birthday dance since January.  What a phenomenal job they did considering they're 4 & 5 years old!!!  I was one proud mama (and daddy was pretty proud too).

We're ready to put the tap and ballet shoes away...for now!  According to Riley she needs a break from dance, but will be ready in September to shake her groove thang!!!

6 month check-up!

So this post is about 2 days late - which is good considering all that is going on this week.  

Avery had her 6 month check up on 5/7/13.  The appointment went very well.  Avery showed off her ability to sit up on her own to Dr. Rufa.  She also allowed Dr. Rufa to check her out and did it without a peep!!!  Avery is a very healthy baby.  She is on target for all developmental milestones for a 6 month old.

Here are baby girl's stats:

Height: 27.5 inches

Weight: 19lbs. 5oz.

Head: 17 1/4 inches

She is growing beautifully.

She took her 2 shots like a champ - only a few tears and then smiles the rest of the afternoon and evening.  No fever either!!

We don't go back until she is 9 months old - of course for more shots!  BOOOO!

Play Ball!!!!!

Riley had her opening day of tee ball today!  They did pictures (which took FOREVER) and then did a little parade and each team played one inning.  The kids were so good and super cute!  Check the pics from today and don't forget to stop and watch the video of Riley's very first at bat (it's in the middle of all of the pics).

Riley's first official game is on Thursday.  She is super excited about it now that she got a taste of what it is like to play against another team.
